Recalled Appliances

recalled appliances

Massachusetts Home Inspections does not research product recalls or notices of any kind. My home inspection will not include the identification of, or research for, appliances and any other items installed in your prospective home that may have been be recalled or has a consumer safety alert issued on it. Any comments made in your report regarding well known recalls or notices are simply provided as a courtesy to you (my client) only.

If you are interested in receiving information regarding recalled household appliances, I highly recommend visiting the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission web site at http://www.cpsc.gov/cpsclist.aspx. Consumer alerts and product recalls are added to this website almost daily.

CPSC web site is very easy to use. It has an on-line subscription service that enables you to receive instant email notifications of any recalls or product safety concerns. There are many subscription choices, including subscribing to recalls involving only selected products, e.g., infant/child products, sports and recreation products, outdoor products, household products, and specialty products. There are literally thousands of recalls and safety concerns that have been released since the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission began operating in 1973, and every one of them are listed. Not all recalls and safety concerns make the local headlines of your local newspaper or the news, so it's best to be subscribed to the USPSC.

Massachusetts Home Inspections recommends that you subscribe to all U.S. CPSC press releases, including recalls. This will alert you to all recalls and safety concerns of products that are on the market today.
